Science & Art Sculpture for Open Day 2022
We the students of ID3 was presented with the opportunity to showcase our work and was inspired by the concept of Kinetic sculptures and it’s clockwise and anti-clockwise movements are some of the reasons why it’s a magnificent piece of work. The research that we put into figuring the functionalities and the way that the sculpture works indirectly inspired us to create our model. We wanted to do something unique and hence tried to merge art with science.
Mandala has a geometrical representation of various shapes arranged together in way to get a mind calming pattern. We inculcated the movement of gears that surrounds us in our day to day lives with a mandala. It was clear to us that two interlocked gears can never move in the same direction, and so, we decided to combine the gears as combined gears always tend to move opposite to one another.
Hence, we created our wooden installation which gives audience the experience of science included in the model and watch the Mandala pattern created by the same motion.
Science and art… using the science of gears to build an interactive installation with the final output as a kinetic sculpture that denotes mandala art… this and much more at OPEN DAYS at LISAA Bangalore. Don’t miss it on 19th & 20th August at our campus.
