Book Cover Design & Visual Communication
We all know the phrases “Don’t judge a book by its cover” but in reality, you most likely should.
Because the cover of a book works as a salesman to its audience, and the cover needs to be recognized as an important tool – not just to service its original purpose, which is to protect and bind the pages of a book. A book cover creates the first impression on its potential readers. Therefore, a book cover design is one of the most important aspects of marketing a book. If the cover is not designed well, you will lose sales. So, one must consider a professional book cover designer for creating a book cover.
A book cover is the book’s billboard, and even without the reader or author knowing, it causes expectation. Designing a book cover is one of the most exciting aspects in the career of a Graphic Designer.
The main thing with a book cover is to attract potential readers to the book by giving just a small glimpse of it, whilst at the same time not overdoing it. However, there is a very fine line between flashy and dramatic so be sure to tread this carefully. The cover should portray a purpose or theme that is important in the book in a manner that is very distinctive.
We at LISAA School of Design empower our students with the skills, process and vision required to create aesthetic and impactful Book Cover Designs as a part of our Visual Communication pedagogy. Here are some selected works created by our 3rd Year Graphic and Visual Communication students.
