Ravikiran Rajendran is a theatre practitioner based in Bangalore. He completed M.A in Drama from Bangalore University and an alumni of National School of Drama Bengaluru Centre in 2015.
He has acted in plays of different genres ranging from classic Sanskrit plays, semi classic form such as Yakshagana and modern plays. He has written, adapted and directed proscenium and street plays. He is part of Hashmi Theatre Forum one of the prominent Theatre teams of Karnataka that works extensively in political, activism, community and educational spheres of theatre. His latest theatre production was the adaptation of Perumal Murugan’s One Part Woman for the students of Jain University.
He has in the past couple of years been exploring the idea of community theatre and theatre’s possibilities and applications in education through workshops, productions and research. He is currently engaged with a research project with RVEC in Bangalore working with teachers of four BBMP schools.
He has also acted and received wide appreciation for his role as Manja in the critically acclaimed Kannada Feature Film ‘Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu’. He is actively engaged in other short films, feature films and theatre research projects attempting to explore the appplication of theatre in different areas. He is currently teaching as Assistant Professor in Acting for Creo Valley School of Film and Telivision, Bangalore.
